There are several interpretations one could have of a song. And the same is true for almost every song in the world. And 50 people listening to the same song could easily come up with 50 diffrent meanings. So my interpretation is based solely on what I feel it means. I believe this song is about a feeling of confinement, as if you can't go any further (hince "gravity, is working against me, and gravity, wants to bring me down")
And also in that same sense it means that this person is almost about greed/envy if you will. The subject in the song is wanting more, almost as if he had everything he needed and just threw it all away for that reason. John Mayer is an amazing lyricist, guitar player, just all around musician that I think I may not even be close to the meaning of these lyrics, only he knows.
